In 2013, a frightening moment in her family's own bathroom changed the course of Debra Friday-Smith's life. Her mother, Ella Sue Friday, became trapped in her bathtub at home. Her daughter was there to help, but couldn't lift her out alone — and the family waited more than an hour before help arrived.
That day stayed with Debra. She and her sister began looking into walk-in tubs, worried they might face the same situation again. Once they found one, they realized how much it could help — not just older adults, but people of every age. That realization became the seed of a business built around one idea: everyone deserves a safe, dignified way to bathe and be cared for.
Debra went on to become a licensed Esthetician through Charlotte's Academy of Nails & Esthetics, and a Licensed Massage Therapist through the Maiden School of Massage. She has continued growing her skills ever since, adding new modalities and certifications along the way.
Today, Ella's Therapeutic Baths & Spa carries her mother's name and spirit forward — a place built on the belief that care and comfort should be within everyone's reach. What began with a single walk-in tub has grown into a full range of therapeutic services, including massage, esthetics, waxing, infrared sauna, and PEMF wellness, all offered with the same warmth that started it all.
